Light, So Much Fun
It's an interesting process, painting. Sometimes an image just climbs out of the paint.
The painting, which I have worked off and on with for several months, initially developed out a prior painting of the St Petersburg waterfront that was "gessoed-out", (that is covered with opaque white paint). A slight contour of this scene seemed to bleed through from the initial colors of the covered-up painting, that gave me the basic structure for this painting.

24' x 36" Oil on Canvas
I am enjoying the contrasting pairs of colors red/greens, yellow/violet and blue/orange in this work so far and the contrasts I have been working on to develop.
Here is the same image at an earlier stage.

Sometimes, adding to a painting works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, thats when you think, "You know I had a really nice painting about two hours ago!" Unfortunately, there is no "undo" button in oils. There is always Gesso, and then who knows?
